Fan Pier Boston - Louis Seaport District Fan Pier Boston

A fan of Fan Pier: Retailer Louis says it’s doing well in once-remote section of city Boston Business Journal by Lisa van der Pool, lvanderpool@bizjournals.com Article Courtesy of:  Boston Business Journal A little over one year ago, high-end clothing retailer Louis left its well-established spot as the chic Grand Dame of Newbury Street, for a new building on Fan Pier. Today's South Boston Waterfront district, therefore, is entirely man-made, and this stretch of Boston boasts the largest acreage of filled-in land in the entire city (with the exception of Logan Airport). Fan Pier, the section closest to the downtown waterfront, serves today as the entry point for this fast-growing area. Fan Pier Boston Ground Breaking Ceremonies

Joe Fallon on Fan Pier:  “If we weren’t going to get going I was gonna jump... (in the harbor).” Some of the 1,000 new construction jobs created by Boston's Fan Pier development (Curt Nickisch/WBUR) BOSTON — It was the sort of event that almost made you forget the recession ever happened. Sharply dressed bankers and developers, the mayor and governor took to a stage under a big white party tent with balloons and band lights. In front of them, a row of shovels and a neatly shaped pile of sand. When Matt Emmens, the CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals stood at the podium, he said he’s been to many groundbreakings before. “For those of you that haven’t,” Emmens said, “let me give you a clue. Well, since construction is building towards the ‘better Boston’ that will be lived in, worked in and run by the OneIn3 readers of the present, a recurring column providing updates on these projects would be helpful. So read along and pass on to your friends so we all have a better understanding of exactly what the Boston of tomorrow will … [Read more...]
